A homepage that only looks good is easy to buy. A site that still gets found when someone types into Google — or asks ChatGPT who to call in Sarasota — is a different product.
That is the job of Sarasota web design and local SEO from US Web Central. The page is not a brochure. It is the front door of Lumina, the framework we use for local service businesses that need calls, not compliments.
Search did not disappear. It split.
People still Google “web design Sarasota.” They also ask tools that never show a blue-link page the same way.
Neil Patel’s team has been publishing the split in plain numbers:
- In an NP Digital survey of 2,000 people across 16 countries, Google still led answer-seeking at 40%. AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, and similar) were already at 36% — a four-point gap, not a rounding error.
- Patel has also said 58% of people already use an AI tool instead of a search engine when they are looking for a product or a service.
- On the traffic side, he has pointed out the awkward math: AI platforms send about 1% of visits but drive close to 10% of B2B revenue. Small door. Expensive people walking through it.
- Across 22 companies NP Digital tracked, leads from AI search went from 3.1% to 7.4% in one year — roughly doubled.
- On NP Digital’s own compilation of AI Overview research, informational queries that trigger an Overview show CTR drops as high as 61%. Branded queries with an Overview were the exception, with an 18.7% CTR increase. Being named in the answer is not the same as sitting under it, unseen.
You can argue about any one study. You cannot argue the direction: if the site is only built for ten blue links, half the conversation is happening somewhere else.
What “built for search engines and AI Overviews” actually means
Traditional SEO still matters in Sarasota. Map Pack still matters. Click-to-call on a phone still matters.
AI systems add a second test. They do not “rank” a pretty hero image. They extract a short, stable answer: who you are, what you do, where you do it, how to contact you.
US Web Central applies GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) principles to every Lumina website and SEO campaign so Southwest Florida businesses appear when local customers ask AI tools questions such as “best [service] near me in North Port” or “who does [service] in Sarasota.”
That is not a plugin you flip on after launch. It is how the pages are written and marked up from day one:
- Answer-first openings (40–60 words a model can lift)
- Question-style headings that match how people talk to ChatGPT and Gemini
- LocalBusiness, FAQ, and Service schema
- One legal name, phone, and service area that match Google Business Profile
- Service-city language for Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch, Venice, Bradenton, North Port, and nearby markets
- Fresh content so the entity still looks current
Patel’s own point on AI citations is the same idea in fewer words: you win on specific questions big brands never bother answering. A plumber in North Port who publishes a clear page on emergency leaks in Charlotte County is easier to cite than a national template that says “serving all of Florida.”
Lumina is the system, not a theme
Lumina is US Web Central’s flagship website framework for local service businesses. It is a custom WordPress build plus an ongoing visibility system.
Every Lumina site is engineered for three jobs at once:
- Convert visitors into calls and form leads
- Rank in traditional Google Search and the local Map Pack
- Make the business extractable and citable inside generative AI answers
Setup is $1,500. The visibility layer is $250/month for 12 months. Delivery is typically 7–14 days. Included: the site, on-page and technical SEO for Google and AI citation, four optimized posts per month, local SEO, voice-oriented questions, and Google Business Profile management.
That mix exists because a mock-up without rankings is a PDF. Rankings without conversion are vanity. AI citations without a phone number on the page are a mention nobody can act on.
What this looks like on a Sarasota page
If you are comparing agencies, look at the first screen of the Sarasota web design page. It should tell a stranger:
- What you hire them for
- That the work is local (Sarasota and nearby cities)
- That Google, Maps, ChatGPT, and AI Overviews are in scope
- What it costs and how fast it ships
- What to do next (audit or a 15-minute call)
That is GEO structure in public: extractable, specific, and tied to an action. The same pattern goes on client sites — HVAC in Punta Gorda, stormwater in Charlotte County, a clinic in Lakewood Ranch — so an AI answer has something clean to quote.
If your current site is quiet
Traffic down while impressions hold is a common AI Overview pattern. Patel’s compiled data says informational CTR can fall hard when an Overview is present; branded queries can rise if you are the name inside the box. Local service brands in Southwest Florida need both: Map Pack for “near me,” and citable pages for “who does this in Sarasota.”
